UGC Calls for Uploading of Full Text of Ph.D. theses on Shodhganga for NBA Ranking 2023

22nd December 2021, the University Grants Commission (UGC) issued a notice calling for “Uploading of Full Text Ph.D. theses on Shodhganga – a repository of full text theses and dissertations.”
The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) that assesses the ranking of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the framework of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Under the assessment, one of the sub-parameters used for the ranking of HEIs under “Graduation Outcomes” of the NIRF is the number of Ph.D. students graduated.
Shodhganga a repository of full text theses and dissertations will help authenticate and find the number of Ph.D. students graduated from the institutions. It will also help in making a strong resource of research conducted in India. The repository will act as digital repository and shall provide easy access as well as help in raising the quality of research. The UGC has mandated submission of Ph.D. thesis on Shodhganga through UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2016.
Accordingly, HEIs and the affiliated institutes have been urged to take necessary steps and have the full text Ph.D. theses of the student uploaded on Shodhganga. The data on number of Ph.D. students graduated in 2019, 2020 and 2021 will be taken from Shodhganga repository for India Ranking 2023 by NBA.
