National Achievement Survey 2021 to Cover 1.23 Lakh Schools Across India

10th November 2021, the Ministry of Education through the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Delhi released details of the National Achievement Survey 2021 (NAS) for students of grades III, V, and VII that will cover 1.23 lakh schools and 38 lakh students in 733 districts across 36 States and UTs of India.
NAS 2021 will include both central and state government schools, government-aided schools, and private schools across the country. NCERT will develop instruments, finalise test material, sample schools, among others. Administration of test will be done by CBSE in collaboration with respective States/UT’s.
NAS will be conducted as follows:

- For class 3 and 5, it will be on language, mathematics, and EVS
- For class 8 it will be on language, mathematics, science, and social science.
- For class 10 it will be on language, mathematics, science, social science, and English.
The assessment will be conducted in 22 mediums covering Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mizo, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Garo, Khasi, Konkani, Nepali, Bhutia, and Lepcha.
For an even-handed survey, 1,82,488 Field Investigators, 1,23,729 Observers, 733 District Level Coordinators and District Nodal Officers separately and 36 State Nodal Officers in each State and UT, have been appointed and 1500 Board Representatives have been appointed in the districts for effective supervision and ensuring unbiased conduct of the Survey. All the personnel are trained.
A National Steering Committee has been established and a portal – https://nas.education.gov.in launched for the smooth execution of NAS. State and District Report Cards for NAS 2021 will be released and made available in the public domain.
